Elephant in the Room Productions is a performing arts company based in Adelaide, Australia founded in 2017, and dedicated to producing and supporting new talent and works, to showcasing Adelaide’s talent nationwide, and to expanding Adelaide’s artistic calendar by the staging of high quality artistic works.
The Elephant in the Room refers to something obvious but not talked about. Elephant in the Room Productions is committed to presenting the arts in a way that acknowledges its capacity to confront, to challenge, and to deal with subject matter that is directly relevant to modern life. Where appropriate, we aim to present art with a social conscience; art that deals with the issues it depicts directly, but sensitively; art that addresses the elephant in the room; and to leverage that art towards helping those affected by the issues we depict.
The magic of live orchestra came to the lush gardens of the Adelaide Zoo as Elephant in Room Productions presented the Adelaide Concert Orchestra in an immersive outdoor concert series of two sold-out, family friendly nights. The programme featured Camille Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ and ‘Danse Macabre’, and Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ with the latter two being arranged for the ensemble by John Rotar. The concert was narrated by Jamie Moffatt with sound engineering by Sam Lench.
‘Carnival of the Animals’ was staged Friday 29 January and Saturday 30 January 2021
Do you know what you wish? Are you certain what you wish is what you want?
A young maiden, downtrodden. A lad, poor and hungry. A little girl, unaware of the danger that follows. A couple, desperate to start a family. A witch, cursed and bitter. To find their fortunes these figures venture Into the Woods, but within these dark gardens lies more than they bargained for.
Running from the 4th to the 7th of November 2020, Into the Woods was directed by Scott Sharrad and musically directed by Jane Feast.
See what we’ve done, what we’re doing, and when we’re doing it.
Trust us, you’ll want to know about it.
